The Family Behind The White Rose

It all started with a dream…

Otis Cantwell grew up on a family farm in Sneedville, Tennessee. At the age of 18 he moved to Morristown in order to work his way through Walter State Community College, and then East Tennessee State University, where he graduated with a degree in business. By 1988 he had married his longtime sweetheart, Kim, and together they raised their three children, Kelli, Phillip and Michael. Otis had always had a dream that his children would grow up on a farm the way he did, knowing that farm life with the elements of nature, animals, fun, and hard work had helped to set in place the values that made him the man he is today, so in the Fall of 1991 the family moved to a farm of their own in Talbott, TN.

After living their dream of raising their children on a farm, Kim and Otis realized their children were leaving the nest. Kelli had recently gotten engaged. Phillip was growing the family’s landscaping business, and Michael was about to graduate with honors from the University of Tennessee. It was time to start dreaming again, and this time of a legacy to leave behind.

Otis and Kim purchased Hidden Meadows Farms in the Fall of 2015, nearly 24 years to the day after they had purchased the Cantwell Family Farm. Resting on 130 acres of majestic East Tennessee landscape the land has clear views of both the Clinch and Smoky Mountains, as well as beautiful Cherokee Lake. The property, once the home of Pleasant Creek Baptist Church, still contains the gorgeous view of the old road and church foundation. Legend even has it that down the picturesque creek adjacent to the church a moonshine still had been set up, and fearing that their baptismal waters may have been tainted by the moonshiners the church moved to what is now Pleasant View Baptist Church.

After the joy of their only daughter’s wedding and the dream of sharing that with others, the couple have set out to share both Otis’s country flare and Kim’s timeless elegance with their community. The White Rose at Hidden Meadows Farms is not only an ideal wedding or event venue; it also remains a fully functional farm where clients can experience a true taste of country living with all the elegance of any big city venue. The White Rose at Hidden Meadows Farms offers a remarkable variety of services and vendors who are waiting to work with the family to make your dreams into a reality!
